For any of you folks who are beginning to feel depressed with the probability of not fishing all winter, I have a place for you. My dad and I just got back from an incredible, allbeit, short trip from Andros Island. This was our second trip to Rupert Leadon's Bonefish Club, and it was phenominal. We were the only guests there, and the only boat on the water for three straight days. Each of the three days on the flats yielded 20+ bonefish averaging 4-5lbs, not small, and the biggest fish was 8lbs. We fished both in the north bight, and on the most wild flats around, the West Side of Andros. Eddie, our guide, was incredible and he says that January through May should be even better, with april and may providing good tarpon fishing as well as shots at permit. All in all quite a great start to the Holidays, if you want any information on the trip, or places to stay let me know, I can certainly help get rid of the those winter blues....

You've got it right.
The Andros Island Bonefish Club is super fishing. IT is set up mostly for fishermen but they were also trying to accomadate divers.
I also have fishied with Eddie and found him to be more than competent. My only regret was that when we were there in November, it was kicking up pretty good and we couldn't travel to the west side of the island for shots at Tarpon. Did you make it over there?

yes, we made it to the west side twice, had shots at some large cudas that were 20lbs+, and saw some double digit bones from a distance but did not see any tarpon, apparently april, and particularly may and june are the times to target the tarpon, which can be found right at Loggerhead Creek, at wide openning as you enter the west side, next time you go back, if the weather allows, head west, it is an hour run, but you will not regret it. It is as wild a place as I've ever fished...
