Tom, great to have you hear!!
You mentioned in another thread, as well as in your book, that there is an increasing popularity of these fish all along the coast, especially southern states where there never really was before, and a proportional realization of a lack of information about them. Do you know of, or anticipate any research efforts trying to answer some of these questions? For example the estimated range, different strains, Breeding habits, regional size differences, etc?

Even though not a comercially atractive fish (which generally drives the research I think), even the increase in popularity and people fishing for them will draw new information, several years down the road when more information is available, do you anticipate a possible revised publishing of your book including some of this new knowledge (you can see this trend in other fisheries, even stripers for example)?

Shaun, great to be here, thanks for the welcome! I talked to several fisheries management personnel and know of no pending studies on range, strains, breeding habits, regionl size differences etc. With the declines in so-called "money species," like swordfish and bluefin tuna that's where the research is going to go. I have talked to a few fishing clubs about a tagging program and will follow up with Americal Littoral Society (ALS) about adding false albacore to their tagging program. My hope is that this book is just the starting point for anglers to share information on false albacore. As more information becomes available, I would love to do an updated revision. I'm continuing to gather data, and meet new anglers that have information to share.

When I started research for the book, I had a few unanswered questions, today I have even more questions.

Tom
