So how are everyone's guts and paddling arms holding up this winter? I haven't wet a paddle since November but I'm still swimming a mile every day before work. May take up running again too now that we have a dog. How are you guys staying fit? Anyone still paddling?http://anabolicreview.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/spudniklifter.gif

No paddling. Trying to get in the gym 3 times a week, run a couple miles (feels like a hamster cage), lift a few lbs here and there. Sometimes I try the rowing machines for 20 minutes when I'm feeling yak deprivation.

I'm at the gym 2 - 3 times per week, running and weight training. I also play very competitive floor hockey several times per. As I am the goalie, I don't get a break. Typically I play 2 - 3 games on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sometimes consecutively. Talk about an aerobic workout!!! 3 hours of 170 BPM!!!!

I have a fitness requirement for work
so ..
M-F
Morning
running..quick pace (for me at least 8:15/mile) for 30 minutes.
push-ups. sit-ups. working on pull-ups (I'm still using the assist set at 40lbs)
Some weights.

Lunch in the pool
lately I've been doing an easy 20 laps of crawl to keep stretched out (got greedy on a bench and did too much weight)...when its Ok I'll go back to cruising a mile for therapy, stretch & cardio benefit....not for speed about a minute a lap.

Weekends are off...just walks with the dog

Being a fence contractor I take the winters off to rest the arms, back and legs, get a physical theropy on the shoulders, and I'm allset in the spring to digging holes and paddle the yak. --127-3-

It has been too warm to paddle, but now that its below 0 I will get back into it. Untill then/now, I watch my boat from the couch. Once a month I go out and get in my kayak on the ground. I check to make sure I still at least have enough room to get my hand down inside the cockpit. If I can, all set, good to go for another month. If not, I run til I can, and repeat the process from the couch. :-%

You guys want to get crazy? Take one of those Concept 2 ergometers (I logged 1,750,000 meters on mine in 2003) and put a kayak adapter on it.

HHH? maybe I missed that..I am talking about the running sport where a couple of runners (hares)set a marked trail through woods, bog, dale, what have you- complete with false leads and dead-ends...and then they run pursued by the main group , delayed......at the end lotsa food and drink...

I started with the nyh3 in 1979 although been pretty lame about getting out the past couple years. Sounds like you've already hooked up with a group locally, if not, I'm sure we can find you one.

On on.

..have not found a local group- but am nosing about...I grew up with 8 brothers and sisters and we had a similar game- the tracking part...I think we invented it after reading "The Most Dangerous Game", but Mom stopped us before the fatal part....

Gym from 6:30 to 8 everynight after work. The gym is at my job so I have no excuses!

Luke.
Probably shouldn't be getting so far off topic in this thread but it is exercise, I suppose, although the hash is self described as "a drinking club with a running problem".

Link is for MA hashes.
