Many of the users of the board have "Recieve Email from Other Members" turned off in User CP>Options. This is a mistake. You definitely want to get email from other RTers.
By turning on "Recieve Email" options, you do not divulge your email address to anyone. Any email you get from the board is sent from the RT server email account, so the user does not know your email address unless you choose to respond directly to that person.
If you turn this option on and feel that someone is sending you inordinate amounts of email, or email that violates RT policies, ie. commercial emails, just let me know. I have ways of resolving issues like that.
You would be amazed the number of times someone emails me trying to get in touch with users to pass on some good info, or a trip invite, but they can't get to them.
