I got in a few hours saturday morning at Spy. It was a balmy 5 degrees with no wind--when the sun got out from behind the clouds it was almost tropical. Fortunately a "cooling wind" came up! I couldn't see anyone else fishing the pond. It seems that the bite has been unusually slow this year, so most are going elsewhere.
The bait bite was nonexistent--one hit on the large shiners, but it dropped the bait.
The jig bite was wide open. Drilled a bunch of holes for jigging, but never moved from my first one. 50-60 fish. But before you get too excited most of them were sunfish. Still it was nice to be catching fish. Some footlong perch in the mix along with bass and crappie. Big fish was a 3.4 lb bass (on 2lb test with a tiny jig!)
