Hello. I've been slowly getting into saltwater flyfishing over the past year. In terms of casting, I'm having some difficulty making the transition from trout lines to heavier sinking lines (intermediates on my 8 and 10 wts). Does anyone know of any videos or books that can help me better learn the necessary motions and help teach me distance improvement? Thanks in advance!

Pick up a video by Lefty Kreh, or better get to a show were he featured you can get one on one with him. Hang around the casting pool when he teaching you'll pick up many good points.

I agree, Lefty Kreh is a great resource. I would also recommend a casting book by Mel Krieger. It is where I got my start. Actually, I read Mel's book first, and then bought Lefty's video.
Good luck mate.

I think Kreiger is great for freshwater beginners - but for someone looking to quicken the transition to saltwater I would suggest George Roberts Jr.'s, "Saltwater Flycasting 10 Steps to Distance & Power" - I think.
Plus a session with a pro to review your style never hurts.
Best of luck!

Dido on the George Roberts video. Great tool for the beginner. He also offers private casting lessons for those who are interested.

A great DVD is "Lessons with Lefty" which features Lefty Kreh. I think every one can use a viewing of this DVD. You can find it on Ebay for a reasonable price. Form the How to Fly Fish Series, you can try the DVD " Bonefish School & Billy Pate's Saltwater Fly Casting Secrets."
