Went to East Hampton to visit my fishing hut (well, and to not spend the entire weekend in new joisey).
I was curious how much ice I would see on the water, as last winter the ice extended from 3 mile harbor for hundreds of yards.
Well, this year it was as far as the eyes could see.
There were areas of 3 mile harbor where there was no ice on the surface (places where the current runs hardest).
But outside of 3 mile harbor, Gardiner's Bay was hidden - I looked toward Shelter Island - all I saw was snow; I looked towards Gardiner's Island - all I saw was snow.
Hmm, sure hope we get an early, warm spring, as what I saw indicates the average water temps are lower this winter in the area, and last spring seemed to come so slowly out there.
