Vice recomendations ? ?

Hello all,

I have found myself in need of a replacement for my "starter" vice which has seen better days. Looking for recomendations and suggestions from those whom are more experienced than I, which is likley everyone.

I don't know if this helps and would be interested in other peoples input.

I also am looking for a new vice and from my research I have decided to go with a "DanVice". The price point seems to be the best for the features.

Don't know alot about Vices but I have a Renzetti Traveler. I've had it for many years and I am very happy with it. For what it's worth.

I have had my renzetti traveler for about 8 years and could not be happier. Great value...although, I would recommend getting the new saltwater version out of the gate. It is expensive if you purchase the saltwater jaws later on, plus- although I have not tried yet- the saltwater jaws should hold a #24 trout hook with ease. Throw in a Mckenzie light and you are all set. Also, don't purchase a traveler vise that has the jaws that have two knobs that must be twisted to secure the hook. (#$119) What were they thinking?

I agree with the guys above on the Renzetti traveler..providing it has the cam .... but Dyna King has a nice new smaller version of their top line vice..I don't remember the name, but I think it's about $200..or just a bit more than the Renzetti with the cam.

After using several lever type vises for many years I boughta Dan vise and couldn't be happier. It does everything the $ 300 guys do at a fraction of the cost.

I've been tying on a Renzetti Traveler for many years. I just bought the saltwater cam head during the holidays. It's a great vise for the money. I'd recommend it to anyone. Get the cam head. It's awesome.
