Louisiana Fishing Spots

Can anyone give me some general year around locations for Specks and Redfish that are close to Lake Charles or Lafayette? I am fishing out of an 18' Johnboat so I can't handle big water. But I do have a good GPS and I am a pretty experienced saltwater boat. Appreciate any help.

There should be plenty of spots on Lake Calcasieu (sp) for you to avoid the big water. I would check around and get a fish spotter map and also see if there is a fishing show going on in the area and ask the guides. For the most part, I have found they are fairly free with general advice. You might also check out the local CCA chapter and attend some of their meetings. Hope this helps.
