Just bouncing and idea off of you all. The type of fishing I do has yet to call for mega sized baitfish patterns so the motivation for me seeking out appropriately lengthy materials isn't great. One thing that did come to mind though is..."has anybody ever created a large baitfish pattern using a long strip of craft fur?" (ie: as in the style of a rabbit zonker strip). Seems to me the backing/webbing is sufficiently durable to allow such an application.
Mabey a dumb Idea...likely cast like a soaked mop!

Craft fur is a synthetic material that does not absorb water so casting a large pattern shouldn't be a problem. If you are talking about tying the backing material onto the hook then I would think the end product would be a little ungainly. The company came out with a new version of the product this year with fibers at least four inches long.

The package I have was bought at the Bear's Den in Taunton, MA. The product is called Craft Fur Plus. Manufacturer/dealer is Doug's Bugs PO Box 14472 Santa Rosa, CA 95402. If you hit the fly shows this winter you may be able to find the same product under different names.

Are you refering to long polar fibre? If so, here's the company's long version of it: http://www.gofishflorida.com/catalog/polarp.htm

I bought the Doug's Bugs "Plus" Craft fur at the Marlboro show. The stuff is kind of weird and almost has a taper to it (seems lighter than the usual craft fur)..The stuff ties up nice and clean. not sure if it kinks or gets knotted up with use but. I'm using it for some thin sparse flies and epoxy minnows. As far as tying with the stuff: So far so good. ... only problem is the stuff sheds & I get little pieces floating around and sticking to my clothes.
