I just finished building one of these brutes. I would surmise that it would need about 800 grains to throw? (and a popeye forearm) 700 grains maybe?

I have a rplxi 14-15wt and can throw a 850gr head with one backcast. The rod also will load with a 550gr head so you probably have the same options. Also have a 1150gr rio dredger in offshore bag that I am going to test drive in a few days. Was on a fly only charter once out of o.c. md and sat over a school of tuna all day in 120ft and we all got skunked, conventional anglers slayed them but we fished with our own tackle and we learned.

Email Sage Fly Guy and he can tell you about some custom lines he made for his 19wt Cape Fear. His email is FiveChix@aol.com
They worked very well and were fairly cheap to build.
