I had the good fortune of picking up some extra select craft fur last night. The fibers are about 3" in length and this stuff looks awesome! I haven't tied with it yet, but will try it out tonite.

I got mine from Salisbury Fly Shop in Salisbury, MD.

I'll let y'all know the results...

One tip I found when working with Craft fur. Its cheap and use a ton of it. For example, when tying clousers, your first instinct is to grab a small pinch like you would with bucktail, dust off the fluff and tie that in. Dn't do that unless you are going for the frizzy look.

Instead, take a huge pinch, more than you will ever need for 3 or 4 flies. Put the tips (the side you are not tying in) in your fingers and with the other hand pull out the shorts. Do this repeatedly to thin down the material. this wil leave you with the longer good stuff (like polar fiber) and make for a better kept profile.

Just a thought...I use the stuff alot and found this to help.

Here is my first attempt at tying one on using the extra select craft fur. So far, I really like this stuff!

Colors are light beige belly, chartreuse upper with a wisp of olive as a topper. The fly is about 4.75" long, tied on a #1/0 Tiemco 811s.
