Rich... nice fly!.. I have stopped using ridged tails for bait fish since I want some movement instead of appearance on them... I have used hackle cut tails in the past. Some sili Skin bait fish have been done with ridgid tails... In the past I have wanted a combination of appearance and movement.. this old feather brain attached has a Cickabou tail which will move..it will straoghten out on a fast strip...but will take the shape on a dead drift... just some thoughts.

Since the neer hair is fairly sparse and transparent, you may want to add a lateral line (Underneath the hair) w/ mirage. I like how the gills show through! Nice.

I use them in some of my decievers. Although, if you go with a more rigid feather, it acts as a rudder and will steer the fly, often resulting in a fly on its side. For example, this is a pheasant wing flight feather. Tough vein and rigid feather. The same size tail with a hackle or neck feather will move better and not move the fly
