Hey all, I just pruchased a cortland 444 shooting head and a 444 running line. The shooting head comes with a loop connection, and supposedly (at least according to the woman who e-mailed me from cortland) so does the running line. There are no loop connections on the running line, so what sort of connection do I make, or do I buy the slip on loop connectors????
Thanks
Tony

I build my own shooting heads Ill tell you how I do it Im sure 20 people are gonna replyabout how wrong I am but this method works and there is far less hinging than with a loop to loop rig.Ill try to describe it I wish I could put up a diagram
Cut the loop off the shooting Head
Shave the ends of the running line and the shooting head on an angle with a razor
Slip a 6 inch long piece of 30# braided mono over the running line then work the shooting head into the braided mono untill the the two angled ends overlap just a little (1/4 inch)
Tie a Nail Knot at each end of the braided mono with 15# flourocarbon
put a drop of Zap a Gap on each nail knot
This works good if your not going to change Heads I find its super duable and there is much less hinging.
I usually use the running line section from an old WF line I fing ther factory shooting lines are to light and thin they just tangle and blow all over the boat
Good luck hope that helps
