I fished Lake Winthrop on Sunday afternoon with my daughter for about an hour. We had a very narrow window to fish but it was good to get out even for an hour. Lots of guys and gals on the lake, no doubt due to the great weather. We caught one nice 18"? pickerel on a shiner. Guy next to us caught a catfish of all things. Ice was still 6-8" thick.

Ice in Boston is starting to rot. How is it out your way Garth?

Same. A few small puddles on the ice. Mostly about one or two inches of rot on top. In a few sections the ice was pulling away from the shore as well.

A1 had 9" of ice.
I should be able to check at the end of the week to see if it is still fishable for the weekend.

I was at Lake Whitehall in Hopkinton this noon. Still pretty thick out in the middle, but the edges are rapidly eroding to less than an inch or two of slush and some thin hard ice. In many spots you'll need a long plank to get out to safe ice. By this weekend, I may revise that to most spots.
I haven't been to Hopk Res lately, but I suspect it's the same story.
The smaller ponds may be your best bet at this point.

Bob,
Have you been over to A-1? Things don't look so good from here, but I haven't checked the ice.

I'm sure I'd need a kayak. Looks like the local season is over. Never thought I'd be sad to see the ice melt.
