Hi,

I am having trouble deciding which rods to keep. The Sage RPLXi's or AXS's I have purchased for an upcoming trip. Both are 8 & 9wt. Still winter and have not had a chance to cast these rods. Casted the AXS once and it is a sweet rod with lots of backbone. What to do? Any feedback would help. :(

if you have both in hand, just go cast them. personally i prefer rplxi, but that's just me...

You might have a hard time finding a Powell dealer around. Check their website they have an interesting deal where you can test the rod for a month.

I have the AXS 8 and it's a lot different than the sage. I would consider the Sage to be "fast". The AXS is "lightspeed". Great in the wind and for shooting long lines...if you prefer a more moderate action you may not like it.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Street is dry so I will cast them and make my choices. I think I will go with the AXSs. Real nice sticks that allow you to cast a mile. Thanks again and lets hope it is on this year.

I hope you use an old fly line! Pavement will put little cuts in your line, scrap away the smooth coating, get dirty, and it won’t shoot the way you want it to! This will even happen if you cast on grass too much.

is the ice gone on the lakes near you? go there and cast. or you could cast on snow if there's still some near you.
