I got a $100 Cabelas gift certificate for my birthday. I could use another freshwater fly reel for my 5/6 weight. Can anyone recommend a good reel in the $100 or less price range.
Thanks in advance,
Oops. Shoulda put this in the tackle forum.

I have a G. Loomis 5/6 Venture that I use on my 6wt, great reel, super light, strong, and simple. I've dropped it into the Madison and had it tumble 10feet over rocks, picked it up and fished it, I've even used it in the salt on macs with no problems.
You can get them in Cabelas for $100 right on the dot.
Cheers,

Thanks!

Pauper, you are probably correct, but I don't have a boat rod. And if I got one I would be afraid that I might end up becoming a tube and worm guy...and I'm too young for that.

Macks on the 6wt are great fun! A couple Septembers back I was killing them off Popham Beach up in Maine, it was a blast, the macks had a bunch of silver sides pinned up on the beach for about 2hrs, so I ran to the car to get my trout rod(very moderate action), it was just one 18" mack after another! The girlfriend run up and down the beach throwing the silver sides that beached themselves in the chaos back in the water, great fun.
No idea where the stripers were, that would have been interesting, 28" fish on a 6wt
