Hello! I can't stand it anymore, I need to get out and fish!! Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might cast flies to some pike this weekend?
Cheers,

I see you're down in CT, I'd say the CT river is your best bet, but it is still a little early to get them on the fly, I'd try drifting big streamers on sinking line along the channels if you do give it a try. You might also find some big females lurking the shallows, getting ready to spawn, but its only March!
OR you can tie a clouser on a jig rod and come up here and fish for them through the ice

There is an oxbow type of spot on the Concord river that holds pike. I have never fished or seen it but I would like to try it out sometime. I think you need a boat to access it.
Tackle shops like Arlington Bait and Tackle might be able to point you in the right direction. They can set you up with shiners too.

Call The Bait Bucket, in Waltham. They've given me information before on Pike fishing on the Charles

On the Cape, I'm told there are pike in Wequequet Lake between Rt. 132 and 28 just off exist 6. Is that true? Has anyone within the last three years ever caught a pike in that lake. (Am I spelling it right?).

I was wondering the same thing. I rode my bike over the Concord River today (3/14) on Route 225 and there were quite a few boats out there. From what I can tell from posts on other online boards, March is prime time for pike on the Concord. I have never fished for them personally, but would like to give it a try.

I have fished on the Concord many times over the past few years and the Pike fishing there has been great! There is a boat launch on rt 4 and 225 head left towards the Lexington and Concord and right towards Bedford and Billerica. Also if you keep going up towards minuteman national park the assabet river will take you towards Fairhaven Bay. Keep a tight grip on the rods as you can see some good action early spring.
This river is one of my favorite places to fish for Pike and Largemouth Bass in the spring and late fall. I have had Pike hit my little crawdad that were so big I though my boat was hit by a floating log. :brow
Good Luck

Well, we didn't get to wet a line, but went to the Great Meadows NWR and found that there isn't any fishing in the two "ponds" there.....we couldn't figure out where in the Concord to throw flies. Most of the other ponds are frozen over still.
Good luck!

Rocktrout,
How far are you from Storrs, CT ? I intend on giving Mansfield Hollow a try for Northerns this Spring.

I got a couple pike out of Wequaquet this winter ice fishing. Thinking about wetting a line there later this week.

I was out on Fairhaven bay on sunday in a Kayak. A little casting a little trolling. No fish.
Beautiful morning, mist rising, deer in the woods!

Wade&Yak,
I am about 1.5 from Storrs now, used to live there in grad school. I never fished above the dam, but heard good things. Good luck!
