So I'm thinking of building on a GL3 or GLX blank, 11wt, the gloomis website says they only make the GL3 and IMX for the high end blanks, is the GLX the same as the IMX? its the most expensive blank, and the GLX is the most expensive rod....so?

Thanks,

Josh

The GLX line is available in blank form now. I think!!

The GLX and GLX cross current are their high end rods. The GLX is lighter and stiffer than the IMX. Try some of the big online fly shops and custom tackle shops. Loomis stopped releasing GLX blanks a few years ago, but they can still be found.

I have IMX, GL4, and GLX rods. I love the GLX blanks.

I get starry eyed and tingly all over every time I think about my Loomis rods. They rock!
Can't give you good advice though, I am buying surf and casting rods which are usually in the lower grades of graphite.

There is a noticeable difference in the different grades. The higher quality ones are much lighter. Get the best grade you can buy!

I build a few rods and I use either Mudhole tackle Or Anglers workshop both are easy to find with your search engine and they have nice free catalogs. Also odly enough Cabelas has a fair amount of rod building items at pretty good prices.

Anglers Workshop is great--I have been using them for over 10 years. Much better staff than Clemens and they will work to get you a blank if it isn't in stock.

Hey, they should be a R-T sponsor!

Loomis does not make IMX fly rods anymore. If you find one grab it. Sometimes you find them for $100 or so. I broke an IMX and Loomis sent me
a new GLX blank. Its a great blank.
