Does anybody remember (or could someone find out at the FF Show) who sells the fly rod holders that have the big suction cups on them for sticking to fiberglass on a boat? I remember seeing them at the NJ show...they had them sucked onto a console for display. I just bought a boat and while the T-Top has rocket launchers, I'm looking for a place to stow my 9Wt and 10Wt rods underway so they are ready to fling at fish fast.
Thanks for any info- a phone number for a dealer or the Manufacturer's name or URL would be much appreciated.

You can also attach some fly rod holders from someone like Bluewater to the rocket launcher and have them up high and out of the way. A friend of mine did this with some zip ties and it works great. Not sure about the suction cup deal, but thought I would mention the other option.
Anything that places the words large suction cups, and expensive fly rods in the same sentence warrants caution IMHO.
Just in my experience, I've had 2 occasions where our roof top rod holders failed, and my dad and I had surf rods all over the road. In both cases, the suction cups popped up, and the rods went flying.
Off the top of my head, I seem to remember a couple times on the old R-T where someone posted an instance in which the suction cup failed. One stand out in my memory.
Three guys had those "hood/roof mounted" Orvis suction cup fly rod carrier system. All their expensive fly rods (and reels) ended up coming off in traffic on Rt 3! --124-3 Of course all the rods and reels were destroyed in traffic.
All this of course is MHO, your milage may vary...

Expensive rods + Suction Cup + Small Boat + Ocean = disaster.
Take a deep breath, mark and measure carefully, take a sharp bit and (gulp) drill some holes and mount with hardware.
If you just can't bring yourself to do it, rail mounted holders are an option.

I think the holders you are referring to are, " I-Fly," fly rod holders made by Bill Strakele here on Cape Cod. He also makes more permanent holders.
My theory about the suction cup mounts, is that they are actually designed so that you can bring your fly rods out on your buddy's boat and have a better place to mount them than laying in the bilges. I have heard that the suction cups mount rock solid for this purpose.

Yep, I actually found them in an older post. I'm thinking I will put their more permanent ones on my boat and have a suction cup mount for travelling and fishing with friends on their boats. Thanks for the reply- the URL BTW is:
