i went fly fishing for the first time this year today. i went on the Salmon River in CT. catch of the day was a little nymph. i saw one rainbow maybe 3' from shore but i couldn't get it to eat. towards the end, i walked across the river to pick up some string that i thought was flyline. while wading back across, i slipped and took a dip in 40 degree water. because of this, i have a question. should i put some felt on the soles, or should i just buy some Korkers? I'd be getting Korkers for saltwater anyways, but would these spook the fish?

I've had felt soles on my bootfoot waders, since I tried to walk in a river 30 years ago with rubber soles with similar results, I guess if you are wading in mud or sand they might not be neccesary. Korkers don't seem to scare fish on when I have used them on slimy rivers with slick rocks. Rubber soles on rocky rivers are a good way to have an accident that might leave you more than wet. --124-3
