Hi All,
This is my first post and I welcome your generous responses. I found this forum by accident and am I lucky or what?!?
I am in the market for an 8 wt. multi piece rod. I am not an expert when it comes to flyfishing. I currently have an 8wt 2pc loomis imx. I will mostly be using it for small and largemouth bass bugging but I am also going to Sanibel in June for redfish/snook. These are the rods I was considering:
Albright A-5 8wt 5pc @ 195
Temple Fork ticr 8 wt 4 pc @ 209
Temple Fork Pro 8 wt 4 pc @ 149
Cabelas FT 8 wt 4pc @ 249
Redington wayfarer 8 wt 5 pc @ 195
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts/opinions.

Welcome I found this forum by accident too. You can't beat the TFO Pro for $149. Best value on the market right now.

You can buy them through the reel time and support the forum. After a while of being here you start to wish they charged you. Good luck

I like the Albright A5 much better than the TFO. The A5 is like a laser for accuracy.

I still want to see your responses but I could not pass it up. I just purchased a redington wayfarer 8wt 5pc on ebay for 149.99. I probably should have waited but I knew someone would get it. I don't know the differences betweent he albrights and the redington but I did just look at the albright a-5 and they appeared to be very similar to the redingtons. I know I will miss the ferule guides but for a small bargain I can accept that.

For my money, it's hard to beat LL Bean's travel series rods. (http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=4375&cat4=1110&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&feat=ssdpa1110) At $179 for the 6 piece, or $245 for the 9 piece, they're a steal. I've only fished the 9 piece, but I've heard good things about the six, and the 9 was fantastic.
I have a 4 piece, and while it technically is a multi-piece rod, I find it's a bit big to fit in most bags, so packing it tends to be a pain. The 9 piece on the other hand, fits easily in a hip pack, which was great for bycycling to the flats when I was in the Bahamas last spring.
Of course, it seems to take forever to put the rod together if there are fish visible/breaking when you get to the water, but I guess everything is a compromise :)

why not check out the 4 piece 8 wt. Orvis Streamline? I haven't cast it yet, but that sounds like a pretty good rod... $98.

Yeah, i just picked up the Orvis 4 piece #8 weight rod from that streamline series.
It's not a high-tech rod but casts pretty good actually, don't have the expierence yet on how it will drill a big seatrout, but i'll let you know..
