I'm pleased to welcome Dick Brown, the Dean of Bonefish, to Reel-Time's Ask the Author's forum. Dich is a regular Reel-Time contributor, posting under the nom-de-forum of Marshrunner, and fishes the Merrimack River region when he's not in warmer climes chasing the ghost of the flats.

I've "reviewed" (http://reel-time.com/feature/churbuck/brown/) Dick's two books -- Fly Fishing for Bonefish (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1592280773/reeltimetheint00/002-7593402-9616812)and Bonefish Fly Patterns (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1558213929/reeltimetheint00/002-7593402-9616812) -- so, take a look, do some homework, and get ready to pepper the man with your questions. He'll be around for a couple weeks, so, please post away and don't wait for me to open up the discussions.

Thanks, and again Welcome to Dick!

David,

Thanks for the warm welcome and the entertaining review of the books. Harbour Is continues to be a regular destination for me and I enjoyed your characterization of Girls Bank Flat, which I sometimes think of as the Henry's Fork of bonefishdom.

Thanks also for the chance to connect with some of your forum members. Forums have brought a new and powerful dimension to the sport, allowing anglers of all skill levels to easily exchange knowledge and theories and to benefit from each others experiences. By making these exchanges possible, Reel-Time is making a great contribution to the sport.

And, by the way, while much can be learned from those who are long on experience, some of the very best innovation comes from those who are new to the sport and who question everything. And forums more than any other medium encourage this democratization of the sport. We are all better for it.

Dick
