I fished Andros last month. Great trip. After several casts to a "lone wolf"
with a gotch, I quickly rigged up a mini puff and WAM ...he hit it like a ton of bricks. As the old saying goes, if it aint workin try something else...just seems like the older, bigger smarter bones have looked at and possible hit a lot of gotcha's.....thoughts and comments welcome.

Mark,
On most bf trips, I carry seven of the large size Scientific Angler fly boxes that have foam inside both halves of the box. The boxes are full and they are organized primarily by weigth/depth and somewhat by prey form ( I put all crabs in one box for example, and have another that is filled with worms, gobies, mantises etc.). Most of the boxes are filled with shrimps of different profiles, colors, and weights, and if you were to count them all, the Mini-Puff style flies, Charlie style flies (including the Gotcha), Clouser style, and rear facing shrimp style patterns like the Branham's Epoxy Shrimp, the Bunny Bone fly, Eric's Standing Shrimp, and the Squimp would dominate. These are all dependable flies just as the Adams still is with trout and the Clouser and Deceiver are with Stripers. And just as these patterns often work, so does changing to another pattern when the fish have seen too many of a particular one, or they are gorging on something local that is very different grom your fly, or you just plain have better confidence in one and thus present it better.

The Mini-Puff is a great fly. So's the Gotcha ... and of those seven boxes I carry, one is nothing but Gotchas.
