Fished Goose on Saturday with the family. Nothing in the late AM, with winds heavy into the face. A couple of guys were on top of the school and pulling them out with a fly / casting bobber combo. Quit and came back in the later afternoon.

Wind started to lessen and the rainbows started jumpin'. (One cleared what looked like 2 feet from the surface.) In our group, there were 8 fish caught on tin in about a 30 minute time span. All were production-line perfect 16" or so rainbows. The school kept moving in a pretty predictable pattern. A number of short strikes and misses were also in evidence. Wind was still to heavy to determine any insect activity.

Tried Schoolhouse early Easter Sunday, with no luck. I think that fish are holding in that back - bowl again, and I wasn't in the mood for a hike. Went over to Goose and it was dead. The school moved around and the only fish caught were by a bait fisherman. He was throwing spoons as well, but to no avail.

All in all a good weekend on the water.

Interesting, good report....Sounds like the fish haven't spread out on the Mid-Cape ponds yet....

I talked to a couple of guys who fished a couple of cape ponds on the weekend. They said there was alot of wind and they were not catching many fish. They said the water only warmed up to about 42 degrees on sunday.Maybe the water temp needs to get a little warmer for better action.
I am hitting the cape this weekend so I hope it gets a little warmer.

I fished a Cape pond Friday and Saturday, total for the weekend was 11 on the fly rod including a 20" brownie, one on a spoon when it got REAL windy, and one on a 5" junebug senko (go figure)

Oh and I agree the trout have not spread out yet, I was pulling several out of deep holes but they were deffenetly still piled up. More rainbows then last year, also seems to be a lot more quality 16"+ fish then the previous year. Only smallish fish I caught were a few brookies and one small brown. The bait fisherman were doing soso, some guys fished for hours and only got a fish or two, many were mad when they saw me with the fly and leaky waders C&R 4 or 5 trout in 30 minutes when they'v got none of the stringer and they'v been sitting there for hours :brow All in all a good weekend. heard reports some flounder are starting to be caught in the creeks. I mostly fished a wolly bugger on a type 3 sinking line, the sinking lines were deffenetly out fishing the floating, I was still counting to 10 or more before I started the retrieve. I did see quite a few trout rising when the wind died down, lots of fish rising out in the middle of the pond.
