I am looking into purchasing an 11' 11/12wt two handed rod for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica (Tamarindo on the Pacific Side). I know these two handed rods are developing a following from striper fisherman on the East coast. I plan on doing a fair bit of inshore fishing, and think the rod will perform well for inshore applications, however, I was wondering if anyone has tried a rod of this type for offshore species. Any input would be appreciated.

The design intent is a rod for striper fishing in the surf. I believe prototypes have been field tested chasing roosterfish in Baja and Trevally on Xmas Island. Suggest you post the question at flyfishingforum dot com.
