The short version...Absolutely Beautiful day!! Dead calm no wind to speak of and a Moon low tide...signs of life all around, cormorants, gulls, shrimp, crabs... thought for sure it would happen, no fish. Started with a sink tip and big herring pattern, decided it was too nice a morning to not switch to a floater and a smaller deciever. Water was very very clear. Fished 5:45am to 8:20am or so...2 boats driftng jigging for cod in the Governor's channel.

Long version.....made the 20 minute walk to my usuall spots and was on the water by around 5:10am (20 minute walk from car at 4:50am).. Beautifull morning, birds flitting around, glassy conditions, and a low tide just like I like. Everything felt right...then I took a couple casts and Realized I forgot my watch just after sunrise...walked back and drove home (thank god 2 minutes away). Got watch returned to spot. Now about 5:45 or so...Tide slack low. Walk to a rock pile that is now exposed and stood on that to reach some deeper water. Tide starts coming in. You know where this is going. Set bag down on rock. 1 hour later a coast guard Orange greeting boat flies past the shore line headed for a tanker in the outer harbor. Send a wake right at me...no problem for me, but took my bag off the rock and sent it floating away. So I notice, gatther my line, and start creeping along ther rock pile to get it. Sliiped on a kelp covered rock and took my first of what will be many spring baths over the waders. Anwyay, get the bag, not too badly wet, back on rock and start fishing again. Time for me to leave. I get back to my car wring out my clothes. Pack everything away, go to start the car and ..........silence.
No clicjk, no turnovver, nothing. Walk back to my house. Now I am already late for work. Talk to a mechanic who says sure bring it in, we will do it today. Try riggling the battery ternminals. Should have thought of that,....walk back to spot. Keep in mind my car is about a 30 min walk from my house. Wriggle wires, car starts and stalls. Riding the clutch I get it to the garage. Anyway, so then I try to make the bus to work. Walking to the bus, it goes by...so I start running, it makes a loop and I can sprint 2 blocks and usually get it on the way around if it hits a light. If not, ...well SO I take off...get to the other bus stop 2 blocks away just as the bus is leaving...so now I have to start walking to the T or take a cab...I get a cab...
What else can go wrong today??

Sounds like my Friday last week - head out for the first of what I hope will be a spring, summer, and fall of bicycle commutes (finally getting in shape after years of doctor's warnings), get hit by a BMW a half-mile from home. I'm okay, the bike is not.

blow the rear end in your truck right before your two week vacation (with the boat attached, headed to fish) like I did last year.
