Came across this brand of hollow core spectra on another site.

It is significantly cheaper than Power Pro or any other brand of braid I've come across.

Anyone have any experience with this line???

thanks,

chris

OK, so it's not well known around here.

I did the appropriate research and have found some very interesting things. The Jerry Brown Line One Spectra has all of the desirable properties of all the other major brands, except one.

Cost

It is significantly cheaper on the wallet than say, Power Pro. If anyone has need to fill a 30/50/80/130 class reel with braid and a topshot of mono, this would be a very economical route to take, without sacrificing performance.

I found it locally in New Jersey. Here is the link www.bhptackle.com The fellow's name is Basil and he is quite helpful.

I am confused. I looked up the website and the price of that stuff seems to be MORE than Power Pro or Western Monofilament

For a minute I thought maybe I was wrong..............But that was my mistake, thinking I was wrong.

Here is a quick price comparison below.

Power Pro Hollow Core
150# test 500 yards $119.99
150# test 1500 yards $339.99

Izorline Hollow Core Spectra
135# test 500 yards $99.99
135# test 2500 yards $512.00

Jerry Brown Line One
130# test 750 yards $85.00
130# test 2500 yards $275.00

All things being equal, I've going with the JB.

I've just bought some from BHP tackle (Basil) for creating wind-ons.

He was very helpful indeed, on a small order (just 100 m of 80lb).

Although, if you really hunt around you can probably get some of the modern 'tighter' braids at the same price (give or take a little) I think you'd be hard pushed to find one which offers the same combination of large-enough hollow-core with very small outside diameter.
