Was plaing around with the surface swap stuff. Wanted to see how some of the flies swam.
Picked up a couple fish in the harbor on a calm night with the surface fly swap white slider/popper with green marabou tail. Great fly.
Also used one from the clouser swap, don't remember who's it was, yesterday on South beach. Sparse olive over white, gold eyes. 2 or 3 strands of pearl Krystal flash. Lost count of the fish, and one that I couldn't stop from running before I pulled the hook. (keep in mind this was a 10wt rod and a 20lb leader..)

Shaun:
Are you talking about the white foam pencil popper/slider w/ the char. marabou tail w/ the silver inside? That was mine! Right on......glad you were able to get it wet.

I have been using the flies form the surface fly swap a lot. Well I should say I did use them. I lost a few to bluefish, but the rest got mangled by bass. I have not had one fly that didn't produce at least a couple fish before it disintigrated.
PeteV - That popper you sent me that was modeled after Johns Featherbrain popper. That thing is amazing. Its got such a good action to it that I can't keep bass off it. Thanks

I caught a nice 16 inch Brown Trout, here in Colorado on the Squrl tailed Clouser, from march clouser swap. Stripped it off the shore from the boat. Thanks
CO3:
Your welcome and thanks for the note.
That was my West Coast Squirrel Tail Clouser tie from the swap.
Great to here it caught a freshwater Brown Trout. The Clouser always proves to be so versatile.

FishCT - You gave me a pearl version of the Boylermakers you tied for the a swap. Said you had not fished that color combo much but thought it was decent so give it a try. Well I did. Accounted for my Largest Albie to date, significantly larger than most of the 5-10 lbers I was getting. Thing was a monster. Wanted to say thanks!
Thats your fly in the corner of its mouth...

FishCT is the man, I have his Boylermaker tied on right now actually. Its one I am looking at tying myself this winter and adding to my collection. I have been trying to do it with mylar tubing but its been real tough.
