Hi,
I have been a fly-man for about 10 or so years now (Texas Hill Country/Texas Coast). I have been deep-sea fishing out of Port Aransas, Texas over a dozen times over the years, but I have never taken a fly rod. Does anyone know of a guide that specializes or even takes anyone out with fly tackle? I am willing to pay whatever it takes to tackle some deep-sea/off-shore critters with a fly rod. I have already bought 10 and 12wt. outfits for this excursion.
Please let me know if you know of anyone, and any other advice and suggestions are gladly appreciated.
Thank you,
Chris

What are you looking to catch? There are several guides (myself included) that charter for tuna on the fly. Mahi are comon in the late summer and are very easy to get on the fly. If your looking at tuna, your 10-12wt setups are a tad bit light. Most of the action in this area is for the school bluefin. While I've seen one landed on a 12wt, I've seen others that overwhelmed a 14wt. Let me know what your after and I can help you with more info.

Terry,

I have also been thinking about stepping into the ring with one of those critters. What month, if I were to consider paying for your services, would be a good bet to get a few hookups?
