View Full Version : Vero Beach help
I'm going to be travelling down to Vero Beach for a couple of days and plan on bringing my fly rod. Can anybody provide me some guidance to hooking up with whatever bite may be on? I understand that the fishing will have to be done early due to the heat of the day, but can one fish from the beach, jetties, inlets? Are there any must go to areas? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

I am somewhat familiar with the area and suggest you head to Sebastian Inlet There are two jetties North and South which are east of the A1A bridge they are more suitable for bait fishing. As well as the catwalk under the bridge. To the north and south are also parks with plenty of parking and access to the mangroves. The southern park has a little pier which may be suitable. All along the shore line is excellent fishing both north and south. North of the Bridge is Whitey's Bait and Tackle they are always friendly as well as a place that rents skiffs (before Whiteys) I forgot the name but I have rented there before and they are inexpensive they also rent canoes. If you go this route I can almost guarantee some encounter of the fishy kind. Concentrate on the mangroves and channel dropoffs as well as the spoil islands they all produce.
Thanks. I'll let you know how I do.
