I'm going to be in Beach Haven for a wedding this weekend and am hoping to squeeze in a couple hours of fishing.
Can anyone give my any ideas on where I should concentrate my searching? I am from MA and have never fly fished down LBI. We will be staying in Beach Haven, so that area or Holgate is where I plan on trying to find some fish.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not fished the south side of the island ( Holgate area) but I have fished the north side around Barnegat inlet and there is good fishing there. It is only a 15-20 min ride from BH. The island is only 18 miles long.
There is a long jetty at the inlet (a hike) that can produce, though it may get a little crowded on the weekend. You can also wade the back bay behind the lighthouse or even rent a skiff.
Right now I beleive there are blues, bass and usually weakfish this time of year, but I've heard the weaks have been scarce.
If you don't want to take that ride, you can try right from the surf in BH. Fish the jetty groins and look for bait, swirls etc.
Best time to fish is dark, moving water. It is possible to catch in daytime, but bass are better at night.
Hope this helps. You can return the favor when I come up to MA in late August for a wedding!! ;)
PM for my cel# me if you want to give me a call for more specific info.

PhilDKreal,
Thanks for the info. I was unable to get out and wet a line, but while I was walking my dogs on the beach yesterday morning, I did run into one guy who had caught a 25" - 30" striper. His measurements were very vague.
