For anyone that is new to the sport, i would highly recommend taking the Darien Orvis fly fishing class. Not only do you get hours of personal instruction from a seasoned veteran (there were 4 students and 1 instructor in my class on Sunday), but you also get a very good introduction to the public access points in Fairfield County, CT. The class was about 1 hour of classroom instruction on knots and flies at the store and the rest of our day (7 hours on the water) was spent fishing on Holly Pond in Darien, CT.

Call Bob at the the Darien Orvis Store for details on their next class- 203-662-0844. I plan on taking the class again as it was the best $200 i have spent this year.

Fairfield Fly shop used to run a class like this. Too bad they aren't around anymore. They provided a lot of great services.

No kidding. Caught 1 shad this week from shore.
Have we moved to the NY/NJ board and nobody told me? I see only MA on the New England side.

We fished Holly Pond, nice spot in Darien. I will be heading back there on Sunday around sunrise.

Last night we fished Cockonoe Island. 6 stripers up to 27 inches.
