ok, i know this is a fly fishing forum, but i have a conventional question. i'm making my first shark trip in a couple weeks, and want to try a popper on a Van Staal 300. It's a Spro Prime Popper 50, kinda mackerel colored. i have already removed the hooks and split rings. i was thinking of crimping a hook on about midway down the body on some wire, than crimping on a hook at the tail. id hold the hooks on with 3 rubber bands, and run the wire through a split ring at the head of the popper. any comments on this, good or bad?by the way, i'd run probly 3' of wire in front of the plug and crimp that to a spro heavy duty swivel.
