Just read my July/August issue of Tide magazine. Was scanning the table of contents when I spied a photo of a gray perception with the Orvis bucket strapped to the back. Thought I'd seen photos of that yak fisherman before. Turns out to be an article by our very own Sam Riley, Shaun Ruge, and Ray Avitable. Great piece guys. Loved it.

Thanks. CCA/Tide has been looking for more NE articles, so I proposed the one you see. I may follow it up with a how-to kayak fishing article. More details on boat selection, rigging, technique, safety.......

I'm thinking of an article about the Derby too.

The article we submitted was 2x as long as the one published. We had a lot of fun writing it. Shaun put in quite the effort, and Sam had lots of good pics.

I'm taking reservation for the signing Friday, call my publisist. Tequila shooters and popcorn will be served

Bunch of incoherent rambling...

I agree that more NE are needed. That's why I was pscyhed to see you guys get published. I like reading "Tide", but so much of it seems to involve fishing that I don't do on a regular basis. I'm sure that it's hard to publish something that will keep everyone happy. Seems pretty heavily focused on SE and Texas fishing, though, from the content to the advertisements.

I agree, TIDE is significantly geared towards the southern fisheries. But then again, something like 75% of the CCA membership is located between TX and FL. Advertising $$ allow for publication.

That's great guys.
I wish I had the article to read.
I trust you told the world the only correct kayak is a sit-in. :)
Just kidding.

What is required to get a signed copy..or any copy of the article? ;)
Did they send you an electronic version?

Never forget your roots.....at least thats what I keep telling Ray when he leaves after his makup and fitness trailer can't fit in any of our usual launch spots...

As for getting a copy, if you join CCA they will send you the current copy, and ever other month there after...

Don't forget is wardrobe of impeccably tailored Brooks Brothers foul weather gear. I swear he looks a good two feet taller in that red number.... it's the cloths that make the man after all :D

If anyone wants a copy of the issue I have a box full at my house. I can mail them out. Just send me a PM with your address.

Signed copies are $120 each. Contractually I can only sign them with Green "fine" shapies. Please contact my public relations office to arrange for signed copies. I'll be in NYC doing the TODAY show tomorrow, so it may be a while until I can sign one

Don't think that the RT sticker on your yak went unnoticed, Shaun (even if we could only see half of it).

Welcome to 'zine publishing. Cutting down on article length is standard industry practice, although the extent to which they do it varies amongst publishers. Usually the end result is better than the original manuscript, although occasionally I wonder after the edit whether I actually wrote the article in the first place!
