I'm heading down to Sanibel this april again --127-3- and was wondering what rod wt. is recomended for blackfin tuna? Last year, fishing in 30' of water, i used a 9 wt. on LT's to 19 lbs. I was thinking of testing the Tfo Professional and TiCr in 10 and 12 wts, G. Loomis 10 and 12 weights (not GLX, too much $), and the Orvis TLS 10, 11, and twelve weights. my max budget is $400. what one of these do you recomend?

I'd say the 10 weights you mentioned would be good. A 12 weight may be too much rod for those fish and the quick casting you may need. Sure they run fast, but aren't powerhouse Tarpon or big Jacks. I'm partical to the Loomis rods, but the TFO rods are very impressive for thier cost.

Thanks, Ray. I'm headed to Salt Water Edge this weekend to test cast some rods. I've heard many good things about the Loomis rods and TFO rods, but nada about the Orvis TLS rods. Can anyone say anything about these rods, good or bad?
