Launched the kayak out of Deer Island last night around 1930 and headed for Faun Bar. With the incoming tide it was pretty obvious where the bar was. Second cast landed a 30inch Striper, next cast landed an equally nice Blue. Both on 4 inch Storm Shad. This contined for 2 hours, mostly Stripers of similar to slightly smaller size.
As the tide went slack the fish moved to the deeper northeast portion of the bar. Allowing the jig to sink to the bottom produced fish regularly. Fishing with a 25# flourocarbon leader, it was only a matter of time until I lost the jig to a Blue. Of course that happened, but I had plenty in reserve....BACK IN MY TRUCK  I totally forgot to grab a bag or two!!!
So that ended the night. I didn't even bother with the fly rod. But I imaging a white deceiver would have a similar effect.
