Just some FYI on a Spinning rod I've never heard of before. I needed a new light line spinning rod for my trip to the Cape. I had the bigger rods for the Surf: Loomis surf series, a Ben Doer. A smaller boat rod for sluggos & jigs: St. Croix Tidemaster. I needed one more decent quality light rod. On the recomendation of a local shop I tried the Shimano Teramar for $99. after a week of using it. I found that its a very decent rod and I highly recommend it. The action is quick and fast and I had no problem detecting strikes, setting a hook or fighting small blues and stripers. Not a bad little rig. The rod was 1 piece but that was OK for what I had to do. Just another data point for anyone that cares.
