Newbie question here but how would you guys fish this? From what I can see, this is a stationary and well defined cold water eddy centered on the 20 fathom line SE of ACK. Is this the kind of thing that Tuna folk look for?

Well Sam, first I have to say it would be a heck of a paddle to get there... (sorry, had to be a wise guy)

I had the same question last week for someone who's fished south of the Vineyard for much longer then I. He said years ago he also noticed the break and spent a lot of time working it to no avail. Someone finally told him that cold water is a spillover from the GOM currents and that it historicaly does not fish well. You are much better off looking for the 2-4* breaks further to the West. That said, there are times when fishing is good due south of nantucket...what causes the change I don't know...

Yee of little faith :)

Thanks Bob. I just started paying attention to these charts and need all the info I can get.

Tight lines,
Sam

The water pattern is described in this link, I asked an oceanographer the same question a few weeks ago:

http://marine.rutgers.edu/~wilkin/wip/cblast/cblast2003.htm

Look at the pattern and read riptides last post. 200' of water, 20-25 miles out, 63 degress. hum....
