Charley did not affect the fishing down here. The Albie's are still here strong. The fish are from 2 - 14 #'s.The've been just crushing the new topwater " Sluggo Fly " Also the king's have been hitting flie's reel good the only problem has been landing them. Those teeth are killer's. There also has been big school's of Rainbow Runner's, we had 1 the other day that was the biggest we've ever seen. Great fight on the 6 wt. The Mullet are starting there run already. We saw a school the other morning in the river that was getting busted up by Tarpon. " Flyflinger " get out there in your Yak.

Dino, Love reading your reports up here in the NE.It seems like you didn't even skip a beat transferring your passion to fish to FL. I first caught your reports a while ago when i checking some other sites in FL. Every year I get a heavy thot to go and see what the tarpon is all about, but just haven't put it together yet.

Hey, salmon are stacking up in 125ft of water in the mouth of the river.Remember that???

I've actually fished next to you in the fly zone one 30 degree day. We got to talking and i was using a Tioga reel and I ended up buying a smaller model from you, shipped to MASS. It still holds some of those fish.

Maybe some day we'll be hooking up down there.

take care.........Paul H.

I remember that day. I still guide up north the middle of Sept - the middle of Dec. I will be going up north for my Steelhead fix. I've blocked out some day's to do it. I still keep in touch w/my friend's up north about the fishing. I herd the Slamon were in 70 feet of water & that the new state record Steelhead was caught about 2 week's ago that went 31.9 #'s. Picture that on the tioga.

Maybe i'll see on the river. Take care & have a great season.

Hey Dino,

Great report, as always! Sounds like a blast! The reports are greatly appreciated, especially by those of us that don't fish for a living and have to live vicariously through folks like you :brow .

Questions for you -- What size flyrod/reel rigs are you using for Albies?
- What's a Sluggo fly? You tie them? I may need to place an order w/you for a few!

How have the snook been treating you? The season is right around the corner ;) .

Thanks again.

Tony

The rod's that we use for the Albie's are 10 wt's w/clear Int. line's, 16-20 # fluoro. ( stright shot of 6 feet ). The Sloggo Fly is something I came up w/when we were blown off the water in Montauk last year. It's a top water fly w/alot of action. As for the Snook this week we have some good tide's, might do it in the A.M. if my client want's other wise it's ALbie's * King's & maybe a nice Dolphin.

Dino,

I'm heading to New Smyrna Beach for my annual fix at JB's Fish Camp's for oysters and 10 days of flailing away at redfish in the Mosquito Lagoon.
Any tips on flys for " Mr. Red" would be appreciated. I normally use Kwan's and small Clousers.

Have the bays settled down since the storms. I was down in October and the Lagoon looked like a Hersey Bar w/ Almonds.

The troops really wracked up salmon in Pulaski this year. Finding space on the Salmon River was like getting a seat for the Army?Navy Game in Philly.
