Hey everybody,
I wanted to announce a Paddle Only fly fishing tournament that will be held November 13 and 14 in Matlacha, FL. The actual tourney will be held on the 13th and the 14th will be the award ceremony, plus a day of fly fishing seminars, casting instruction, fly tying, fun stuff for kids, music, food, and beverages of all kinds. All the proceeds for the event are going to the Big Brothers Big Sisters nonprofit youth mentoring agency, but since we just got slammed by Hurricane Charley, we may ask that everyone coming bring a toy for some of the local kids whose families are trying to rebuild after the storm - the festival will be right before Christmas!
Anyway, the fishing has been phenomenal since the storm and slowly the area is getting back on its feet, so we decided go through with the Matlacha Fly Fest. If any of ya'll have never been to this area, you should really check it out. Amazing wadeable backcountry away from power boats and open water and lots of tarpon, snook, and redfish.
