What do you think about that ?
For the users, what are the differences with a classical stripping basket ?

I have seen them and that was by someone who used it to hold few coils of line in a river, he was casting and had line out for say 30foot and then started fishing closer and instead of reeling up the loose line and havong it wash into rocks and grass he would hook it on there. Then when he wants the extra few feet he would just let it fall.
I don't know if that was the correct way to use it but I can't see it being used instead of a stripping basket. For one thing you will get tangles if you shoot line and the wind won't do it any good either.
How do you strip and hook the line in the spring everytime?
I could be wrong but I would not try it in the salt...

I don't really know LeonR, this is the reason why I check for advices...
It has been recomended to me by a guy who fished in saltwater (in Guinea) with it... He prefered it to the foldable stripping baskets...
He just said that you need to learn a bit how to strip and hang the line with it...
My first feeling was the same than you LeonR, but the guy seemed to be very happy with it...
having 30 ft out it would be ok... but on the surf with 100ft of line and a shooting head!!??
sounds messy. what about a wind blowing the line around ? the basket keeps it under control

i'm only a newborn to this -three years- but i just finally purchased a basket-untill now i have fished like i was fishing for trout and hand coiling or pulling it in reverse from the water as i casted so i can see how it would work but i bought a l.l. bean basket (my wife works for them---$11 and some change).its a sweet basket and i will be glad to make the fishing easier-----i smell a fishing trip to use it soon-

I agree with Pops it sounds messy, if you don't have to much line out it could work...
I have two other questions, one is will the sring that holds the line damage it and how tight does it hold the line? the other as I stated before if you are stripping fast like one does in saltwater do you have time to hook every loop on without missing the beat, if it is only made for holding the line while moving around it will be pretty useless.
If one loop slips off while you are retrieving and loops under the rest... thats going to create a decent tangle.
I just had a look at the site where they sell them and that does not give you much to go on, the one good thing is that you can adjust the tention on the spring but you still have the problem of hooking the line in while stripping.
If you are serious about fishing in the salt I don't think considering anything other than a decent basket is an option, folding mesh baskets do not fall in the "decent" category.
What I am saying is I won't buy one, but I will listen if someone tells me it really works.
