Hi guys and gals: I just purchased a TFO TiCrX 8wt for lake, river and reservoir shore fishing for all sorts of species of fish. My casting distance has went from about 65' to 85'+ --127-3- , with fairly decent accuracy. My question is....what is really more important....distance or accuracy? My TFO Pro 8wt I was able to cast to the above mentioned 65' so I got greedy and got the new rod. Was my wanting to cast further kind of the norm, of have I gone around the bend (#$119) . Thanks in advance.

I think almost everyone, except the freaks who can shoot line into the backing, want to cast further. I know I do. But as I've heard said, it's not how you get the fly out there that catches fish; it's how you bring it back.

Distance is fine if you need to reach out to deep water or if you seeking a species that is skitterish. But in general I'll go with accuracy. Dropping the fly near structure or in front of a crusing fish.
