Met up with Slappy at DI tonight around 8pm, Jacob also made it there later.
Slappy got into fish straight away, although not the usual big ones from what he said. :(
Jacob got a few as well on plastics.
I did not even get a bump on the fly, tried the old Clouser and a bigger black fly that I hoped would resemble a sluggo but all I took was a floting line and an intermediate, big mistake the fly never got down more than 2 foot with the current washing it away and lifting it up. In hindsight I should have taken a sinker...
It did not look like the bigger fish that has been around and I think even Slappy did not get up his usual big numbers and with smaller fish although he did get some nice ones(Eric correct me if I am wrong)
All and all the plastics outfished the flys by a good margin. --124-3
Two things that could have helped, one I never saw a Skunk tonight and got Skunked and number two the deckgun arrived without the mounting hardware... :brow
I left around 10h30 and Slappy and Jacob were still fishing, I had enough it was pretty rough out there too.
Ja, no, well fine.

i like trying to match the hatch to a sluggo.
it was a lumpy night out there. but i did manage a DI grand slam! a few bass, a blue, and a ray --127-3- . that was my second grand slam on the season, my first being a buzzards bay, a scup, a bass, a sea robin and a fluke.

No grand slam for me. (one blue though) It was tough conditions to fish in. Windy and very bumpy, the bumps were very uncomfortable over structure, especially for a novice kayaker.

Picked up about 15 fish, 7 were legal, most were about 31, biggest about 34. But that was pretty good for a slow night. After not fishing for a week, it was good to catch something. Everything on plastic. The bite was tough. It was hard to stay on any pods of fish and it was hard to fish where the fish were. There also seemed to be fewer fish about.

Very tough night for the fly rod. I never took a cast and I didn't see Jacob try either. Leon, I got about 5 more after you left including my "big" one. Good to meet you Jacob.

I thought you would get more, good for you.
Why does a slow night for you translate into a great night for others?
Nice to meet you as well Jacob, wish I could have had one of those blues...
There is something about dark water at night that makes me uneasy.

Chuck, pretty crappy conditions for wading. Lots of chop, waves etc. Probably a lot of weed right on shore. Might be better off on the inside. Find some current with a little structure and fish it hard.

Leon, I believe that I am going to catch a fish every cast. Plus it is a lot easier to get bit on the plasitic than the fly.

Eric if you ever see someone in a ninja suit and mask casting plastics, on a red kayak...I don't know who it is. --123-3

Fished the entire incomer from dead low to just before high. Tons of bait(on both sides of DI/Winthrop) but no breaking fish. One schoolie landed, one break off, one other bump and my buddy had one bump as well. Think we'll wait for some more consistency b-4 heading back out there again. --124-3
