Went to a well known south shore river this morning just after sunrise for the outgoing, immediately see a nice blit about 300 yards away - big slashes, it looked like children doing cannonballs off the bank the splashes were so big....by the time I paddled there, the action had died down considerably, but did manage a few in the low 20's on soft plastic - again, with the size of the splashes (even viewed from a few hundred yards away), I'm thinking there were some bigger bass there.
All in all, saw a lot of quick blitzes, was fortunate to be right near many too, and was able to hook up on quite a few, all in the lower 20" range, all on soft plastic.
Between casting into schools of stripers, I tried trolling tube and worm for the first time on the yak.....it won't be the last time! It was just as effective as I had hoped....caught several this way, biggest was 26". At one point this method seemed irresistible to the fish, as once I got it rigged up and into the water behind the yak I would have a fish on. I was hoping for some bigger fish doing this (read: keeper size) but was just as happy with the quantity over quality.
