Hey gang,
Check out my "Ultimate Shrimp" flies. This fly concept has been brewing in my mind for a while and I finally put most of the peices together.
Comments?

I really appreciate the interest. The fly is still in the prototype stage but I can tell you that it has a short list of materials. There's still some work going inot the fly but here's an ingredints list..as follows...
ULTIMATE SHRIMP
HOOK...Mustad 34007 SS (tied in size 4 & 6 so far)...hook must be bent into the "Bendback" style...also...the point of hook is slightly bent into a "baitholder" configuration (should improve grabbing and holding power of bendback config.)
EYES...burnt mono
ANTENNAE...stripped grizzly hackle or Krystal Flash strands
MOUTH PARTS...small short bunch of craft fur
LEGS...Hungarian Partridge (pale speckled) stripped and palmered (two wraps only)...hackle bunched and wrapped into position under eyes before epoxying.
THORAX and TAIL...epoxy applied in two stages...Thorax first till set...then Tail (to achieve segmentations on tail sections...a single firm wrap of 3/O tying thread over epoxy when almost completely set...no knots required as thread impregnates epoxy and stays locked in).
TAILFAN (optional)...latex cut to shape.
NOTE:
I mix my epoxy (on waxed paper) then draw a little scribble of colour with permanant marker beside the epoxy blob and immediately blend it in with the epoxy...works great.

Henry... I love it... Really looks real!..... The body is perfect...but I also like the way you used the material for the legs and feelers.... Excellent

Thats a great looking shrimp, guess it s for tailing bones.
You talk about epoxy have you tried silicone for the hole body?
Anyway it is great.

I've got a fair bit of experience using both silicone and hot glue in fly tying and at this point, for this fly at least, epoxy offers me the greatest amount of flexibility in manipulating the flys shape.
I really looking forward to trying some of these flies for the Bones on Eleuthera Bahama's. They'll get their first workout down at Boca Paila Mexico at the end of November.

How long did it take you to find a real shrimp pic that matched my pattern? It just blew me away when I saw it.
Thanks,

About 2 seconds, it took longer to wait for my web browser to load the picture. Took about 2 minutes to crop and adjust the size in power point so they basically match. I have most of my photos well organized by catagory/date and alphabetical by name so finding stuff is easy even though there are literaly thousands of them at this point. I have a folder for bait pics, and in that about 50 shrimp pictures to chose from. Most of which are the same basic poses, just differences in light, slight angle, etc.
90% of the time if I am posting photos, its stuff I (or Sam Riley) took so I know where they are. I try not to use other peoples photos, like ones I found on the net, all that often unless I don't have a good photo. Like the krill picture in the baitfish thread is not mine, I didn't have one.
