Taking today off to vote.....

Had some very productive trips this past week. The wind has been up but have had clients that don't care.

A Gulf wreck in 50' produced 6 sweet Cobia between 15-25 pounds. Just right for eating. Also hooked up on Spinner Sharks, Kingfish, Spanish Macks, Cero Macks, Cudas and Mutton Snapper.

Spent one day closer to the Marquesas and managed to hook some nice sized Mutton Snapper as well as medium Red Grouper and plenty of Sharks.

Had a taste of throwing the fly at Sharks. Hit one of my regular mid winter shark on fly spots to check things out. Hung out a 5' Cuda that I had speared last week for the trip. Within 5 minutes had a juvenile Hammerhead in the slick. A nice light grey colored one about 8 feet, thick and very healthy. Quickly switched the 12 for the 14 wt and he ate it instantly. 45 minutes and 1/2 mile later released him no worse for wear. Picked the anchor back up and chummed heavily with a big chunk of the Cuda. 5 more minutes and spotted a 6 foot Blacktip cruising the slick. He ate just as fast but jumped like a madman and turned out to be a Spinner Shark. He broke off after 2nd jump. Also had a 12 foot Sawfish take a dead drifted Snapper and fought him for an hour before thesaw cut the leader.

Outside the reef Blackfin Tuna, Grouper, Yellowtail have been great sport on the deeper rubble.
