I have lately become fond of Craft Fur Plus for tying baitfish patterns. The one problem I see is that when tying on small hooks you waste a good bit of material. I have been trying to avoid buying standard craft fur also. I was hoping someone could offer a suggestion

Save the tips of the long fibers. To get the small fibers, hold the base of the clump and pull the tips. This will give you the long fibers in one clump and the medium and short ones in the other set the long ones aside. Now pull the medium tips off the clump and put them in a pile. Now you have three sizes. If you want all small ones, put all three piles together with the tips lined up and time. Not that much waste.

Try other types of craft fur, they all have different properties. Some are longer, some have more short than long fibers, some are stiff others are soft.

Craft Fur is great stuff, its cheep and comes in tons of colors.
