Looking for some ideas for books (yes, I will order them through R-T).

Specifically I want some patterns for large weighted flies for stripers and some instruction on tying. I have tied a lot of flies, but I am a one trick pony--I have tied hundreds and hundreds of bonito flies, but not much else. There are so many great tyers on this site, I am certainly not in their class! So I am looking for something that would show more than just a picture of the fly.

I went to the search button above, typed "books" in the keyline and asked for a search of just the flytying forum. It yielded this thread, which appears thorough and helpful:

You must get Bob Popovics book. It is excellent and will introduce you to not only some great patterns but different tying styles also.

I can't recommend it enough --127-3-

Is a great book. It teaches a good deal about fly tying techniques and thinking. YOu don't have to tie the flies, but soem of the ideas are excellent. Just add clouser eyes, and you'll have some deadly flies that you can fish deeper than usual and can be made longer than half and halves.

Bob Popovics Book is excellent and very instructional fro Bob Pop's fleyes

David Klausmeyer's book is a great source for patterns

Bob Veverka's Book on saltwater patterns is excellent and has a little bit of "How To" on one or two of each of the individuals flies

Lefty Kreh's Saltwater Fly Patterns has a million patterns and a little bit of "How To" on several of the flies

Kenny Abrames book a perfect fish is an excellent read on how fish think and feed and ways for you to fish for them in more "Traditional" methods of flyfishing. If you want to learn how to tie flatwings this is "The" book on doing so.

There are a gazillion others out there but these are my go-to references

Thanks guys. Any other recommendations? That first thread was more aimed toward new fishermen. Mostly just looking for larger patterns popular with reel-timers, I am comfortable tying the smaller patterns and have plenty.
