View Full Version : Cape Help!

Hello all! I'm going to Eastham this weekend, and need some quick tips!
I've never fished the cape before (true-blue Deerfield/Millers man), but really want to get on a pond or stream.
Can anybody give me the 411 on where/when/what? I'm shooting for Saturday morning...

I think most cape ponds are fall stocked. Try Nickerson state park in orleans, left off of exit 12. Cliff pond is good.

Supposedly they stock Herring Pond in Eastham in the fall, but I'm not sure they do it *every* fall. Ditto for Sheep, Flax, and Little Cliff. The latter two are in Nickerson, along with Big Cliff which is always a good bet. My personal favorite for flyfishing is Flax, because it is much smaller than Big Cliff and easier to find the fish. But they generally put the bigger ones in Big Cliff, including broodstock salmon. Except I just noticed on the broodstock stocking site that they aren't putting salmon in Big Cliff this fall --124-3.
